Michelin Stars in Mallorca: How Many and When to Book

26 May 2026 · 5 min read

Mallorca holds around 11 Michelin stars across roughly 10 restaurants. In peak season, July and August, the busiest tables sell out weeks ahead: book at least 2 weeks in advance. For groups or villa evenings, a private chef from €110 per guest solves the diary instead.

How many stars Mallorca holds

The island carries around 11 Michelin stars across roughly 10 restaurants, a high density for a territory of its size. Balearic cooking sits here alongside serious technique and local produce: market fish, lamb, sobrassada, Serra olive oil and garden vegetables.

The map runs from Palma and its bay to country houses inland and seafront kitchens. Not every table works the same way: there are long tasting menus, shorter chef's-table formats, and seasonal rooms that open only a few months a year.

That matters for planning. A two-star room with a single sitting a night keeps a very different diary to a one-star bistro running several services. It pays to know what you want before you ask for a date.

How far ahead to book

The working rule: book at least 2 weeks ahead. In peak season — July and August, the busiest and priciest months — that margin runs thin for the most sought-after rooms, which close dates a month or more out.

Travel in late May, June or September and you will find more availability and a quieter mood, with the same standard of cooking. These are the ideal windows to land the sitting you want without fighting the calendar.

Many rooms take a card to hold the booking and apply a cancellation policy. Confirm allergies, final guest count and a real arrival time in good time: a last-minute change can cost you the table.

When a private chef is the better call

Some evenings, a restaurant is not the answer. If you are a large group, if dinner falls on the day you arrive by sea, or if you want to dine at the villa or aboard the yacht, a private chef makes more sense than chasing a table.

A private chef starts at €110 per guest for a five-course tasting menu, in groups of 8 or more. They cook in your space, build the menu around allergies and preferences, and remove the late transfer and the fixed sitting.

It is the natural choice when logistics lead: children who eat earlier, a tight run of days at sea, or simply the wish to stay in without giving up a serious dinner. The plan bends to you, not the other way round.

How we organise it with you

We coordinate both routes from one team. If you want a starred table, we request the date with the notice each house needs and slot the booking into the rhythm of your week on the island.

If you prefer a private chef, we agree the menu, guest count and setting — villa or yacht — and handle the provisioning, the set-up and the service. You set the tone of the night; we take care of the rest.

Within a single week it is common to combine the two: a starred dinner in Palma and another aboard with a chef after a day at anchor. One diary, one point of contact.
